I use to watch it when it came on, and it was one of the first (AND LAST) anime's that I really got into.

*crushes scouter* It's over nINE THOUSA- ah screw it, you know the rest.

I've seen...a good deal of it, though only in bits and pieces. I've read the entire thing in manga form though.

See, I remember, when I was in like kindergarden when Voltron and like Sailor Moon were on Toonami, also things like Yu Yu Hakusho. Those were the good old days... Then Dragon Ball Z came onto Toonami and I watched a few episodes... and wanted to throw my tv throug the wall because before I knew it toonami (when it was on after school) was over run by Dragon ball, Dragon ball Z and other crap... That made me cry on the inside...

Meh, the manga's better IMO. Characters only take one or two panels to power up some sort of new planet-devastating attack. In the anime, it takes about three episodes Razz

God, I miss that show sometimes. Why, why did it have to die? Why is everything I love taken from me?! And why was the last real villain a fat, flying pink guy? That sounds like something Monty Python would come up with. And they took Gundam to. Nothing is sacred...

Nothing will ever be the Frieza saga in my mind. I'm gonna' miss that effeminate talking lizard. God speed sir. God speed.

God, that just made me feel ancient. When I was in 7th grade (1995), Sailor Moon used to come on WPIX really early (like 6:30). I would make me Dad wake me and I would totally rock out to the show. Then, Cartoon Newtork got a hold of them around 1999, when I was a sophmore in high school.

I think I need to seek some Geritol.

Old school Toonami was the bomb! Man, I loved it when Moltar hosted it. You had DBZ, Sailor Moon, Outlaw Star, Thundercats...it was fantastic.

Oh and back on the subject at hand...to me, DBZ has always been like going to a monster truck rally. It's so crazy, over-the-top and loud, it just grabs your attention.

I think that may be part of what pushed me away from it for a while. I was getting into Evangelion and the like; so my preferences shifted for the oddball "wtf" style anime. In short; I'd be absorbed in Evangelion, FLCL, FMA, etc. Stuff with less....explosive action and more prominent character development.

Seriously, did Goku ever evolve to anything beyond the "Golly, Ain't I just the purest li'l soul in the universe lol?" I mean, I know Vegeta and Piccolo (favorite character!) had some development, but it feels like Goku didn't change much.

Lately though; my views have pretty well broadened so I'm able to watch/read DBZ without shivering ^_^

Not really, no. That was always my biggest grip about DBZ was that (besides the Cell saga), Goku was always the hero. Oh sure, he may have fused with Vegeta a few days, but just once I would love to have seen Vegeta sucker punch Goku and beat the snot out of the villain within the first episode.
